Isn't it funny how our fears change. The older we get or just where we are in life. Our Fears change. Of course we all have a basic fear: Dying and in the begining it is abandonment.
Like I look at what my children are afraid of and what I am afraid of. Right now my biggest fear would be that one of my children or Lonnie would die. I do not know how women continue. I am sure they buck up for the sake of their children. I would have to. Not be a victim of our tragedy.
However, I am still deathly afraid of crickets and caddydids(whatever they are called, I know what they are when I see them and I absolutely stop breathing and my heart pump 10x what it should) I will always be afraid of those. Snakes too! I am sure there are some other freaky things I don't like. O one thing that probably some of my friends don't know is that I am afraid of escalators!! Raegan is too. But probably because of me! I would rather take an elevator. Which now days I have a stroller and you can't take those on an escalator. Yea!
I watch what my kids are afraid of and it changes through time.
Raegan used to be afraid of the vacuum cleaner. But what kid isn't right? No, she was scared. I had to hold her if I wanted to vacuum. I really don't know what she is afraid of right now! But I think her biggest fear would be that she will not be loved or liked. She so much wants to make us happy by doing things.
Sydney: Has always been afraid of the carwash!! and still is. She is terrified!! I thought that she would grow out of it, NO! She has always hated being in the car seat. Is that a fear. Well we will categorize it that way because it made my life a living H**l. She is getting better, or am I just getting immune to the screaming!
Ashton: As rough as this little tike is. He has never liked being thrown up in the air, You know like all babies like and will laugh until you hurt. NO way, he was scared to death of it. I really don't think this guy has a fear of dying. Could he possibly understand that yet. He will run right into a car, touch fire, etc etc. Yet he is afraid or scared when Mommy or Daddy leave. He got this one from his sis Sydney. She still does this. It is melt down city when one of use try to leave. But it is mostly all about Lonnie, because he is the lucky one that gets to go all the time!! ( I am truly the lucky one, but I like to joke)
Nathan: Well he is 9 mos old. He likes the car seat, he likes the vacuum, he likes to be thrown in the air, so far has not freaked when we go to the carwash.
So he had just a basic infant fear ABANDONMENT .
As I am writing this he is tearing up the phone book, so he better be afraid!!! Very afraid of MOMMY!!
I am sure that all their fears will change through the years. It will be interesting to see how they do.
